Pixton Refunds: The 7-Day Rule and How to Ask
Quick answer
Pixton refunds run on a seven-day window. Its terms of use give you the right to cancel a recurring subscription in writing within seven calendar days of first entering it, for a full refund within 30 days. Outside that window, or once you have accessed the service, the terms state fees are not refundable except at Pixton’s sole discretion. In practice, requests go through Pixton’s contact form with an explanation, and Pixton reviews them case by case.
Why this happens
The governing text is in Pixton’s educator terms: “you have the right to cancel the recurring arrangement in writing within seven (7) calendar days after you first entered into the recurring arrangement” and “you will receive a full refund of any fees paid within thirty (30) days.” The same terms then state that once you authorise a charge, “such amount is not refundable in whole or in part and under any circumstances,” with the 7-day window and Pixton’s discretion as the only exceptions.
Two details in that wording decide most cases. It is calendar days, not business days. And the clock starts when you “first entered into the recurring arrangement” — the original purchase — not the most recent renewal. A teacher on month eight of a monthly plan is not inside the window, regardless of when the last charge landed.
Pixton’s refunds help page itself does not restate the window. It says to “fill out our contact form to let us know why you’d like the refund” with “as much detail as possible,” and that Pixton will review it. Read together with the terms: inside seven days, you are entitled; outside, you are asking.
Work through these in order
- Check the date you first subscribed — not the date of the latest charge. If today is within seven calendar days of it, you are inside the window.
- Request the refund in writing through Pixton’s contact form. State the account email, the date you subscribed, and that you are cancelling within the 7-day period. Include the receipt.
- Also cancel inside the account (settings cog, Account, Cancel Now) so the renewal does not run while the request is reviewed.
- If you are outside the window, still write, and explain. Pixton reviews requests case by case and the terms reserve discretion. Be specific: a duplicate charge, a subscription taken by mistake on the wrong account type, or a school that has since bought a licence are the kinds of reasons that get considered.
- If you are outside the window and the request is declined, cancel anyway. That prevents the next charge even when it cannot reverse the last one.
- School and district licences purchased by quote or purchase order follow the purchase agreement, not the self-serve terms. Refund questions on those go to whoever signed the agreement.
Why seven days is shorter than it sounds
The Starter plan already gave you 30 days of full access for free. Pixton’s position, implicit in the terms, is that the evaluation happened before you paid. The 7-day refund window is for buyer’s remorse, not for a second trial. Treat the free plan as the evaluation and the first week of a paid plan as the last chance to change your mind.
What to put in the request
Account email, subscription start date, amount and date of the charge, and one clear sentence on why. If it is a mistake — wrong account, duplicate purchase, a card that should not have renewed — say so plainly. Pixton asks for detail and says it will review; a request with the receipt attached and the dates stated is the one that gets a fast answer.
If that did not solve it
If you were charged after cancelling, compare the charge date with your cancellation date. A renewal that ran before you clicked Cancel Now is a normal charge, and whether it can be reversed depends on the 7-day window from your original subscription date, not on the cancellation.
Questions people also ask
Does Pixton give refunds?
Within seven calendar days of first subscribing, yes, in full, per the terms of use. After that, fees are stated as non-refundable except at Pixton’s discretion, and requests are reviewed case by case through the contact form.
How do I request a Pixton refund?
Through Pixton’s contact form, in writing, with your account email, subscription date and receipt. Cancel inside the account at the same time so the renewal stops.
Does the Pixton refund window restart at each renewal?
No. The terms count seven days from when you first entered the recurring arrangement, meaning the original purchase.
Can a school get a Pixton refund on a licence?
Licences bought by quote or purchase order follow their own purchase agreement rather than the self-serve terms. Ask whoever signed it.
